One of the deliverables was the development of an ICT training programme for teachers. After some investigations, CECS decided to develop an ICT training course for high-school mathematics teachers. A training manual was subsequently developed and piloted on 13 May 2006 with 11 high school mathematics teachers based in Gauteng. CECS conducted two short training sessions at Sci-Bono for maths teachers in 2007 during the Maths Week which was organised by the Association for Mathematics Educators in S A (AMESA). These training sessions were well-received by the teachers and they were hoping for more training to take place. CECS, on the invitation of Maggie Verster, has also conducted a pre-conference workshop in 2007 for maths teachers as part of the annual AMESA conference. These teachers at the pre-conference workshop hailed from rural schools and were excited by the possibilities ICT presents. In 2009, SAFIPA provided CECS with support to undertake the following activities:
The training offered by CECS is unique. There is nothing comparable in South Africa. The web application will make it easier for Grade 12 Mathematics teachers to create and print question papers. The question papers will print with the memorandum. Thus, register on the CECS the website if you want to:
